The beauty of the concept is that it encompasses all religious beliefs forming an umbrella transcending all religious divisions in addition to the entire material universe. And it seems this is much more akin to the reality of the real working of the universe.
Though it is considered part of Hindu religious belief, in reality, it is basically Indian ancient philosophical vision formed much earlier than the idea of an organized religion, the only difference being the community labelled as Hindu accepts these ideas and practices it though in a very limited way keeping in mind the ultimate vision of being one with the supreme being while other religious refuse to accept or recognize this sticking to the fixed and finite idea of a single God in the form of a human father figure.
