What is happening here is that people all over the world yearn for a change, a break from the past and a new direction. They are ready to take the risk that the experiment may misfire. In France, in spite of all the bad publicity I think there was a dangerous possibility of the balance tilting towards far right lured by the 'France first' slogan as happened in the case of Donald Trump. But the people of France proven their worth by opting for the outward looking, accommodating, confident, yet a fresh leadership presented by Macron.
