Good news for the thirsty millions, at the same time bad news for the oceans. What are the long term consequences is not predictable at present . If this happens in very large scale and millions of tons of sea water is desalinated daily, limited sized, land locked seas like Mediterranean, Caspian sea etc. may get dry accompanied by far reaching environmental repercussions. And what will happen to the millions of tons of salt thus removed? There are so many questions to be answered and to be dealt with. Not at all simple issue.
