In ancient times, seeking and acquiring of all sorts of knowledge such as philosophy, astrology/ astronomy, medicine, literature etc. through intuitive thought process was considered or interpreted as part of religious practice. With the advent of modern science acquisition of knowledge was taken over by science through objective observation, experimentation, calculation etc. Philosophy became independent of religion. Religion thus lost its dynamism and ended up as just a bundle of rituals and beliefs.
